What questions surround the most debated prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft? Nothing gets the people going quite like arguing over prospects in the NFL Draft. By this time in the process, fans and analysts alike are locked into their convictions about whether a player is destined for a bust in Canton, or selling paper products out of the office park down the street.
While everyone has their opinions, it is always a good exercise to take a break from the extreme ends of the discourse and get an understanding about why certain players draw more disagreement than the rest of their counterparts. With that in mind, let’s take a look at what makes some of the most hotly contest prospects in this years draft so polarizing, and what key questions the Carolina Panthers must ask themselves when considering putting these players in the black and blue.

2 DAYS AGO - Photo by Perry Knotts/Getty Images
The Panthers watched almost all of their sack production walk out the door and desperately need to restock their cupboards. The Carolina Panthers had a decent defense in 2023 despite some underwhelming splash play production. They registered just 27 sacks, which was the fewest in the league. 90.7% of that sack production is no longer with the team. The only players left on the roster that registered sacks for the Panthers last season are Derrick Brown (2) and Shy Tuttle (0.5).
The front office attempted to patch the massive gaping hole on the edge of their defense by signing Jadeveon Clowney, DJ Wonnum, and K’Lavon Chaisson. That trio statistically mirrors the departing production on the front line, but it’s never a guarantee that players will maintain that production when they move teams. On top of that, free agent signings rarely prove to be long term answers. The Panthers have no young talent at the position, and they need to fix Collapse

4 DAYS AGO - Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports
Your Benevolent Dictator has returned by providing Dan Morgan with a blueprint to win the first draft of his GM tenure. With the calendar turned to April, we are officially in “Draft Month”. To celebrate this blessed season I’m cranking out content centered on the Panthers recent draft history, the perils of trading up, the beauty of trading down, and slipping in another “BYU Homer” post telling the Panthers front office which former Cougar they should add to the roster.
Today we’re going to indulge my trade down fever dream.
But first, as the Benevolent Dictator of Trade Down Island, I demand you read TDI’s Constitution to give you context about my overall “trade down” philosophy. Do it! Now! That’s an order!
The TDI Constitution context helps. At a high level my belief is the NFL draft is merely educated guesswork, so more picks means a higher likelihood of success. If a potential Pro Bowler is available in Rounds 1-2, then take him! But Collapse

This activity is based on the Disney+ series Marvel’s “What If...” where one tiny change to the universe results in a vastly different alternate universe. Killmonger befriends Tony Stark, T’Challa becomes Star Lord, weird stuff like that. In these articles, I’ll give you an NFL Draft scenario, and you all will decide if this is an alternate reality you would want to live in.
Our second scenario involves a run on wide receivers, a double dip, and a position change.

The press for the Carolina Panthers got a chance to ask some questions about Dave Canales and Dan Morgan’s draft strategy and philosophy going into the 2024 NFL Draft. The media got a chance to throw some questions at Panthers GM Dan Morgan and Head Coach Dave Canales on Thursday. The main point on the agenda was to discuss the Panthers general draft philosophy going into next week’s Draft. I find listening to Canales and Morgan giving insight on their process and goals to be refreshing compared to years past. Here’s a link to the video if you’d like to check out the whole thing.

7 DAYS AGO - Photo by Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images
The Carolina Panthers have bigger needs, but a running back pickup wouldn’t be the worst thing for them. The good thing about being a terrible team is that you can go into the draft with a pretty clean slate. Just about everything is a need at some level, so you’re not too conflicted over the prioritization over the best player available and the needs of your team. The intersection of those two is always present.
The Carolina Panthers and the running back position fit that bill. The Panthers would be silly to take a running back with one of their second round picks. They have much more pressing issues at positions that this class is loaded with, and there aren’t really any running backs mocked to go by the time the Panthers are on the clock. However, the duo of Miles Sanders and Chuba Hubbard is decidedly mediocre, and a chance to find some pop in the mid to later rounds could pique the interest of Dan Morgan and company.

The Gamecock wide receiver has the Carolina Panthers buzzing, but is he worth it? It is typical this time of year for reports to start trickling out noting which prospects have the attention of front offices around the NFL. This year, it seems as though South Carolina Gamecock wide receiver Xavier Legette is the apple of the Carolina Panthers’ eye. Ten members of the Panthers organization made the trip to attend the South Carolina pro-day where Panthers Wide Receivers Coach Rob Moore was running the position drills, according to Jordan Reid of ESPN. Even Legette himself took notice of the team’s interest and told the world about the buzz in their facility during a press conference that’s gone viral because of an accent you have to hear for yourself:
